I remember hearing this song and immediately wondering what the hell it was called, well…now I know. Like I said, I’ve seen these guys a few times in concert. It isn’t the highest on my favorites, but still includes an enjoyable sound and harmony. Drum solos, guitar riffs, it’s an all inclusive song. Guess what finally got me? The drums, of course. I was a little shaky when listening to this song at first, but eventually it grew on me. Yet another hit with an extremely catchy chorus, I gave it an 8.5/10. What I loved the most about it was the vocal range that Petricca had, I understand that the majority of the reviews are basically kissing up to the guy, but man does he have a voice. I gave it a 10/10, definitely one of my favorites.

The build, I freaking loved the build because I wasn’t expecting it at all. This song shows the rock side of the group, it definitely strays from the rest of the songs on the album, it being more rock and such, but even then you can’t help but to jam out. At first, the song seems to be slow and calm, but then Petricca raises the vocals and all of a sudden an explosion of sound comes from the guitar and the drums. I gave it a 9/10, another great hit off of the album. They don’t overdo it like they did in “Sidekick” in my opinion. Shut Up and Dance features a catchy chorus, a hilarious music video (which I’ve reviewed before, read that one), and some awesome electronic sound. I was really surprised and happy, this band has really picked up their fan base since their self titled album released in 2012. The band was on The Today Show and a bunch of other TV networks performing the song and alternative stations all over the country were playing it. The hit single was released last month and it blew up big time.

Shut up and listen man, that’s all you need to know. I gave it a 6.5/10, it doesn’t suck, but the album has WAY better songs than this one. Don’t get me wrong, I love this album, but this song threw me off a bit. I dunno, it gets a bit too repetitive for me to actually enjoy it. I feel like the band is over doing the electronic sound. To be completely honest I wasn’t too fond of this one. I’ve seen WTM in concert a few times now, and I remember this was one of the “new” songs the band played. It has everything that a Walk the Moon song needs: some epic guitar riffs, a catchy chorus, and blasting vocals from lead singer Nick Petricca. This song was released last week as the second single off of the album, I loved it immediately. I, of course, jumped on this opportunity and did a track by track review…I’m telling you, this band never fails to amaze me. Walk the Moon surprised their fans by releasing their new album, Talking is Hard, early to listen to exclusively on Spotify.
